The kennel is the new crib

Luke is fascinated by Logan's kennel. He also loves to observe "how things work." Yes, I mentioned that he is a boy's boy. He loves to open/close/open/close the kennel. He even knows there's something he's supposed to do with that latch, although he still can't quite work it. Logan loves to participate in this game, and even seems to love his kennel more since Luke showed an interest. Is this jealousy of his own doggy domain or just fondness for the baby?
In this series of photos, Luke opens the kennel, crawls on in, pets Logan, and gives Logan a love.
Maybe I should have entitled this post "kennel: mommy's little helper." It keeps the boy entertained longer than any store-bought age-appropriate toy!

I can't omit a little info on our other "son," the brown dog. Logan truly is great with Luke. He has come such a long way with his obedience. We have done Man's Best Friend obedience training with him. He went for two weeks of boarding training (last August as we were toughing it out in Hawaii), followed by lessons every other week that I take him to. We started out in private lessons, but have graduated to group classes! I do not think that Man's Best Friend is a cure-all for the unruly pooch. . .you get out of it what you put in. . .but their use of the two week boarding stay is the big difference here. We needed some help at the outset. Plus, the investment of money helps keep us dedicated to his lessons.
I really trust this sweet dog with our child, and he has definitely selected me as the "mama dog" since I have been staying home more (after Luke's birth). If only he wouldn't lick EVERYONE SO MUCH. . .but we have kind of just accepted that!

Luke, log on to Mom's computer and check out www.howstuffworks.com. I think you will really enjoy it and find much to quench your thirst for understanding mechanical things.
