This fall, Luke and Caroline both started attending a neighborhood preschool for two mornings each week, 9:00-noon. For Caroline, I receive a report card like this each day. It's nice to know some details of her morning. I guess it is assumed that Luke is so verbal that such a report card isn't needed--alas, he is not very specific on details. Most days his summary is "I dug a hole on the playground with Dylan." At least he is learning new skills. . .or just practicing old ones? Luke has jumped right in happily and really seems to love his class and teacher. Caroline has been crying at drop off but by today, her fifth day of class, she was finished crying by the time I peeked back in 20 seconds later from a hidden window. (I call that a token cry for mommy's benefit.) I am working on one of the preschool days and having my first "mother's day out" on the other morning. I am a little giddy about the free time. I have been trying to use the brief hours apart to focus on getting errands, paperwork, or exercise done so that I can be fully present teaching, discipling, and enjoying my kids during the rest of the day. So far, it seems to be a nice balance.

"Daily Turtle Happenings," a children's book about sea turtles, coincidence? I think not. I really think it would increase my quality of life if someone filled out a "Daily Turtle Happenings" for me each day.
Her class is called the turtles and Luke's is the ponies!
