Hospital stay

We had a quiet hospital stay--two nights. It went quickly because Liam was born at 8:43 p.m. and that first night counts. I was quite tired as I had not slept the night before when I was in labor. After having the baby in the evening, I did not sleep a wink for the whole next day and night! The adrenaline and excitement would not let me rest, though my body was exhausted. . .my mind was running nonstop.
Liam was a great nurser from the start. I sent him to the nursery in between feedings to try to rest the second night. My doctor put a "do not disturb" sign on my door since I was in good condition so I did not have to have quite as many interruptions for vital signs, etc. Each time Liam arrived he would be quiet, alert, and rooting around (but not crying!) The nurses kept exclaiming about his happy temperament. I think he caught on to nursing the fastest of our babies--and the other two weren't too shabby either. He lost two ounces in the hospital and weighed 7 pounds, 14 ounces at discharge. Not bad at all!
