Living History Day

Our school studies history and literature in a 4 year cycle. This year's period is the middle ages. Living History Day occurs on the Friday before Thanksgiving. We go all out and everyone is encouraged to dress for the occasion. The children rotate through activities designed not only for fun, but for learning about the middle ages.

The Grammar School head dressed as the Queen and the Headmaster dressed as the King.

Luke's class with their shields. Each child was given a shield to design himself.
They started off by having a procession with their shields. Upper school students were the standard bearers.

Jousting tournament (upper school students on tricycles!) Funny!

The Black Knight appeared to challenge the King (he was, of course, defeated in the end!)

Maypole dance performed by 6th grade maidens:

The feast--legs of fowl, cobs of yellow corn, breads of gaul, and Her Majesty's spiced delicacies (cookies!)

Robin Hood Relay:
And finally, archery!

Wherever they fall...there shall they be buried. How cute!
