Rolling right along

I think we are getting the hang of this. We have finally found nap nirvana, meaning that I get at least an hour or two to myself when both kids are down around 1pm. This has done wonders for my sanity! We have finally "found" Caroline's schedule of naps and sleep, and it's going well. Things got a little hairy (and mom a little crabby) last month as BOTH kids were waking up in the night. Luke was off his game, waking at 11pm upset and screaming. Caroline, who had been sleeping through the night since 7 weeks, took that privilege away from me. FINGERS CROSSED--we are back on track. I am putting C down around 7 and feeding her again at 10 (usually she still wakes for it). It will be nice to drop that feeding, but I'd rather have her sleep through the night, so I can wait!

In other news:
Yep, she can roll. She actually rolled a few times REALLY early, at 12 weeks (tummy to back). I wasn't ready to officially declare her a roller because it seemed to be an accident almost. It sure did surprise her in the night when she rolled from back to tummy (3.5 months). Anyway, now it is official. Just shy of 4 months old. She is also grasping and mouthing toys all of a sudden. This started last week. Somehow the milestones just take me by surprise this time. Maybe she could hold a toy sooner--but I never offered one! Today she got a foot in her mouth for the first time, and is doing the "happy baby" pose with both hands holding both feet.

I am working on Tuesdays. They are crazy days, as the kids are going to two separate grandmothers' houses. The afternoon "carpool" to retrieve them gives me a glimpse into my future. However, I am sure they enjoy the personalized attention that I am not able to offer as often. Staying with his grandmothers has definitely given Luke a special relationship with them, and I don't think they'd trade it. I am glad that Caroline is starting to know them as well.

Well, it sounds as if the first of my cherubs is waking from slumber. It's been nice to type more again!

This is a great dialogue you wrote. You are a sensible, kind mother.....and I am glad you are getting some sleep again!
