When he saw a new park with a new fountain near my mom's house: "Mommy, let's go check that out." That phrase was so funny coming out of his mouth!
When working in the back yard with his trucks, "I am working on a project, this construction site says Keep out!" Luke LOVES to remove the sand from his sandbox. I have made a rule that he isn't supposed to do this, but I am honestly about to give up. It gives him so much joy (and independent playtime) to load his dumptruck with sand, RUN across the yard, dump it out, use excavators and bulldozers and frontloaders to push it around. . .you get the picture. I must admit that I sometimes pretend not to notice. He always knows what he is building in his pretend play--a new road, a school, a parking garage. He hauls bricks and rocks and other trucks, all as part of a highly organized operation. His second favorite forbidden activity is turning on the garden hose, making mud, and getting himself and his sister muddy. This mommy has come a long way in accepting and embracing the mess, madness, and hilarity that comes with little boys. (Now bring on the emotionality and drama of little girls. . .starting to see the beginnings of that!)
When driving by the large parking garage being constructed near Nonna's house: "That excavator has an impact hammer on it." (We have graduated to the juvenile section at the library for more advanced truck knowledge). Bulldozer, backhoe, skid steer are all old hat. He can now recognize a knuckleboom loader, telescopic handler, and demolition machine. He knows the PARTS of these trucks too! Grapple is pronounced "Gwapple," and it's so cute.
Pronunciation sillies: Luke's hilarious pronunciation is fast disappearing thanks to our great speech therapy! Need to record more of this.
Logan the dog has gone from "Muh-nuh" to "Modan" to "Mogan." I am told the /l/ is a later developing sound and we don't need to worry with that one yet.
Caroline has gone from "Do-why" to "Toe-why" to "Coe-why." We are proud of his new ability to make hard /c/ and /g/ sounds! Again, the /r/ and /l/ are hard. Wonder what Caroline will call herself? Didn't know she had such hard consonants when we named her.
Excavator is pronounced "Exersator."
These pictures are old and I never got a chance to post them. We had a pretty nice snow a couple of months ago. Of course, this was a new substance for his "baby excavator" to shovel.

This one just captures the essence of our home, full of the creativity and undertakings of a little boy. So often I find a truck left in mid-project. The mess can be exasperating, but I think that life would be awfully quiet and empty without it now that we have been blessed by his enthusiasm, heart, and spirit.
