Night before Kindergarten celebration!
Enjoying an ice cream sundae after dining at Sweet Tomatoes (his choice for his last night as a preschooler!)
Luke,
You are starting Kindergarten tomorrow. You will attend on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Our school is a classical school with a model that includes part-time Kindergarten hours. We love this! We think that it's most important for you to practice good habits, discipline, and spiritual formation with your family at this age. Hours are phased in with teaching of core subjects until you attend full-time in 3rd grade. I can’t believe you are 5 ½ and ready to enter Kindergarten. It seems like just yesterday that you were born. I struggled to figure out how to be a mom, and I just wanted you to sleep. I drastically cut back my work after you were born, and I do not regret that at all. I see now that the preschool years go by so quickly. I wonder tonight if I really have made the most of the time God has given me with you. It is a chance to check my gut for sure!
Luke, I’m so proud of you. You are smart. Very smart! We were blessed with Caroline and Liam and you have grown into a great, gentle, sweet big brother. At 3 years old no one could understand your speech, and with Small Talk and lots of hard work you now have near-perfect articulation. In fact, I would say you sound better than most of your peers! You are very passionate about one subject at a time. Right now it is Lego Kingdoms (knights and castles.) This works great with your school's Knights mascot!
This summer you asked lots of questions about God and heaven. You are learning scripture and Bible stories at home and at church. This Tuesday, August 24, you did pray to ask Jesus into your heart. You acknowledged that you do bad things, you articulated that you believe Jesus died on the cross for our sins, and you asked him to come into your heart and be your friend forever! What a special day for you and your parents!
"I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth." 3 John 1:4
I pray that this year would be an opportunity to grow in wisdom and stature, in favor with God and man. Luke 2:52
I love you son.
