Radio Caroline

I figured out what the name Radio Caroline refers to. It was a British offshore radio station that was one of the first to play all day pop music. It was technically illegal because of its unauthorized use of the radio frequency 199m, and later 319m. Interesting! Also, I read in one article that the founder took the name from Caroline Kennedy because he had been reading a magazine article about JFK's kids when he came up with the name. The frequencies all ended in 9 because it rhymed with Caroline.

The reason we named our daughter Caroline is because it has been a popular name in my family. My great grandmother's name was Alice Caroline, my grandmother is Carol Joan, and my mother is Carol Leith. I am named Kimberly Leith, so it skipped a generation. Since old fashioned names are new again, we returned to the original Caroline! (Leith was a name that my grandmother came up with on her own and she isn't quite sure how. It is a place in Scotland, though.) So, our girl is named Caroline Leith.
