13 months! And a question for girl mommies.

Sweet Caroline is one year and one month! She is not walking yet but is getting steadier. I think it won't be long. She loves to point at everything and say "Hi" to everyone and every animal. She can say dog, mama, dada, moo, hello (ah-o), and hi. She can sign all finished, more, milk, and eat. She really looks at airplanes. She is FEARLESS! I caught her in the top part of the swingset fort--she climbed up herself while I was just reading a magazine 10 feet away. Got to keep a close watch as she is a climber. She loves to be in the middle of whatever Luke is doing (much to Luke's chagrin, most of the time). They do seem to be playing together more and more. Luke's current interests, such as legos, are just not baby friendly! They can play for a long time in the sandbox together. I have had to just let go of the worry about the dirtiness and just buy more oxi clean. Caroline definitely has strong opinions and strong will. She doesn't go down for a nap quietly and she often still wakes at night. We have done our share of "sleep training" but she always gets back off track at the slightest disturbance or sickness. Poor baby has been quite sick this month and we are hoping the spring will bring more healthy days. We love Caroline's strong, passionate, determined personality and know that God will use these traits, which are a sometimes challenges in an infant, to develop strengths as she grows!
Caroline is 13 months old. Can you girl mommies out there give me good suggestions for toys for her? I think we are much too heavily weighted on trucks around here. I am not sure what is age appropriate. We have a couple of baby dolls but she's not too interested yet. Maybe she is just too young for gender specific stuff?

Hi
I'm a long time lurker and always enjoy reading your blog. I have a 15 month old girl and she likes books, wooden puzzles, finger puppets (from IKEA), playing with measuring cups and spoons, and the tupperware cupboard is hers now. Nothing that could be considered "girlie", I guess just age appropriate toys rather than gender specific.
Look forward to reading more.

Henrietta doesn't seem to have any favorite toys, she just plays with Penelope's random junk.

She seems to like toy cell phones, Penelope's PBK toy vacuum (the dustbuster part of it), magnets on the fridge, and anything small and dangerous:)

I'll let you know if I think of any more toys.

Luke and Caroline are beautiful! Thank you for sharing such lovely memories of them. As for toys, my girls love books, puzzles, play-food by Melissa and Doug, kitchen stuff, blocks, Schleich animals, baby dolls, dress-up clothes, and coloring stuff. Kate loves animals and Emma loves baby dolls. Both girls love to read! Check out Hush Little Baby by Frazee. It is really cute. Iza Trapani also writes some cute books that children love. Emma loves the Wheels on the Bus by Raffi. Kate loves Kevin Henkes and his collection of books. Scholastic Videos are great also. I can't wait to see you in September!
Have fun finding special things for your sweet girl!
