Three

Curious George is Luke's favorite (well, only) tv show that he watches and we thought it would be a cute birthday party theme. The plan was to have two bounce houses in the back yard, a bunch of three year olds and their parents and siblings, and just a general laid back good time. The week before we began to see a pretty bad weather forecast, so Michael's brother Josh helped us come up with a "rain plan" a.k.a. a real monkey! He had on a Curious George T-shirt and everything. His handler was the most entertaining part as those who were there will attest. . .well, maybe I should say memorable instead of entertaining! Here are some family photos with the monkey in various poses. I love the one where he's messing Ann's hair.

Luke had a little Curious George figure on the cake with his candles. The rest of the cake was served up via cupcake cake. It was tasty but I think that our cake decorator at Tom Thumb was a rookie or something. . .oh well.

Luke has definitely caught on to the presents part of birthdays. He has several friends who turned three this fall and winter, so he knew the drill. He was thrilled with all of his presents, and everyone was very creative and generous! We received some fabulous new and thoughtful ideas for play time.

Luke, we're proud of you buddy! You are an active, outdoorsy, construction-minded kind of guy! You are very good at manipulating things and you are analytical. Your favorite toys right now are definitely the Mega Bloks truck kits which you mix and match to make novel machines. You are actually very adept with them and have to teach your mom a thing or two about how to put them together. You love, love, love your sandbox and swinging like SUPERMAN! You ask for a BIG PUSH on the swings and exclaim that things you love are "SO NEAT!" Thanks for brightening our lives, Luke, you are a blessing.
