Her teachers requested "no icing and please no giant cupcakes" for her class celebration. I brought blueberry muffins. After some investigation, it appears that OTHER parents have brought giant cupcakes with lots of icing. So the muffins were "darned with faint praise." (Maybe the blueberry muffins will make great bird-feeding scraps.) Caroline did eat hers, though! She put on quite a behavior show since I was in the classroom. Don't you love that "It's my party, and I'll mope if I want to" face? The cake is a fake cake, though we did have real candles. She has not figured out how to blow them out yet, so I blew them out for her.
Footnote: I notice that the girl that had a birthday the following week's mom brought giant cupcakes with lots of icing. Caroline didn't eat any lunch that day.
