Japanese "Crimson Queen" Maple:

We garden organically and have been very happy with the results. We like to listen to Howard Garrett's radio show, "The Natural Way," on Sunday mornings on the way to church. My husband and I have found that this is a mutually enjoyable hobby/interest. And we are getting good at it!
We have officially brought our yard back from the brink of desolation. We used to have a second dog, a sweet German Shorthaired Pointer named Heidi. (Short version of long story: She went to live with friends who have land. She NEEDED land. Bird dogs like her are not suitable for the city!) Logan and Heidi had brought the yard to this point:

Now the yard is looking so nice! It is so pleasant to be out there. The only problem is my nemesis. The evil evildoer MOSQUITO. I am contemplating a mosquito nix misting system now that they offer an eco-exempt, dirt doctor "approved" rosemary oil version of their product.

Wow! I am very impressed, Kim! Beautiful!
And I never knew that St. John's Wort is a pretty flower! Your blog is educational.

Yikes...the before picture. I bet that drove you crazy. Yeah, I didn't know that about St. John's Wart, either. Nice micro-ish photography there, Kim.
